La National Engrais Corporation (NFC), une fois une pierre angulaire de Pakistan's engrais production, est fixé à être mettre à vendre comme partie du gouvernement's initiative plus large pour privatiser ou fermer certaines entreprises_publiques. Ce mouvement, orchestré par Pakistan's Ministère des Industries et Production, vise à augmenter l’efficacité opérationnelle en abandonnant sous-performante entités.
La décision de potentiellement privatiser NFC a été révélée pendant une récente séance d’information au Sénat Comité Permanent sur les Industries et Production, qui est présidée par Senator Aon Abbas Bappi et a-été adressée par Ministre Rana Tanveer Hussain. Le ministère's évaluation comprend 16 organisations, parmi les entités importantes comme la Pakistan Automobile Corporation (PACO) et la Productivité Nationale Organisation (NPO).
Historiquement, entre 1992 et 2008, tous de NFC's engrais unités de fabrication ont été privatisés sous le gouvernement du Pakistan's privatisation politique, gérée par la Commission de Privatisation et comprend plusieurs installations majeures travers le pays tels comme Pakarab Engrais dans Multan et Lyallpur Chemicals & Engrais dans Jaranwala. Actuellement, NFC ne possède aucun engrais production plantes et a déplacé son objectif à vente importé urée.
NFC maintains a robust presence in the fertilizer market through its subsidiary, National Fertilizer Marketing Limited, based in Lahore. This company manages an extensive dealer network across Pakistan and operates six bulk storage facilities with a combined capacity of 115,000 metric tonnes. It is also tasked with the distribution of urea imported by the Pakistan Trading Corporation, playing a vital role in supporting the agricultural sector by promoting fertilizer usage, as per the company's website.
